Are You Looking For an Affordable College? Bramson ORT College Welcomes All Transfer Students

0
0

The importance of a high quality, affordable college experience cannot be emphasized enough, particularly in the context of today’s competitive economy. Because of this, the faculty and administrative staff at Bramson ORT have created a flexible and welcoming environment for transfer students who have been disappointed or frustrated by their previous college choices, or are simply looking for change! In keeping with Bramson ORT’s mission to offer an outstanding education at affordable prices, transfer students who have decided to continue their education here can quickly begin the process of transferring their pre-existing college credit to Bramson ORT.

Understanding the Credit Transfer Process

In order to ensure that students are able to maximize their credit transfers, it’s important to first clarify who exactly qualifies for transfer status at Bramson ORT. Transfer students are commonly defined as those who have previously attended a degree-granting, post-secondary institution. Common examples of transfer students and their backgrounds include:

Students who are changing their degree program and seeking an institution better suited to their desired profession.

Students who, for whatever reason, have been forced to relocate geographically.

There are no immediate disqualifications for classes or degree programs, although the actual number of credits transferred is determined through an analysis of previous college transcripts. During the initial registration process, students can request a preliminary evaluation of their prior coursework in order to learn which of the classes they have already taken can be rolled over into their new degree track. Credit can only be transferred from institutions that have been accredited by a regional accrediting commission.

Students who are interested in transferring credit to Bramson ORT are asked to provide these materials during Admissions Process:

     Official copies of previous transcripts.

An official course description for each class being transferred.

Transfer Credit Requirements

Bramson ORT makes every effort to ensure that transfer students receive as much qualifying transfer credit as possible during the registration process. Course credits are deemed fit for transfer if they are equivalent in content and credit weight to classes offered at Bramson ORT. Once a suitable match has been found, students will be given the matching transfer credit if they have received a grade of ‘C’ or better in the previous course. If a student is seeking to transfer credit for a course that is required for successful completion of their degree, they must have completed the previous course within a five-year period prior to enrollment at Bramson ORT.

After a transfer request has been made, the Office of the Dean of Academic Services will review each student’s course selections and academic history in order to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved.

Our Commitment to Transfer Students

Ultimately, these requirements have been put into place in order to ensure that students who do transfer to Bramson ORT are fully prepared to succeed in their new environment. Anyone who has ever transferred to a new university understands how stressful this process can be. The faculty and staff at Bramson ORT have worked with countless transfer students throughout the past several years in order to ensure that they have the best possible opportunities to set themselves up for future academic success!

Given the fact that pharmacies are located throughout the country in venues ranging from hospitals to grocery stores, the number of professional opportunities available to pharmacy technicians is quite high.

For some individuals, the role of pharmacy technician serves merely as a stepping stone along a more extensive professional path. As you can see, the skills gained by pharmacy technicians are needed in a variety of health-related professions!

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for pharmacy technicians over the next decade is expected to increase 20%, substantially higher than the national average. International Student Initiative

0

World ORT has a long and proud tradition of welcoming and educating people from all over the world. Bramson  ORT College is  continuing that tradition and our mission by pursuing a new initiative to recruit and educate students from all over the world in the melting pot of the United States – New York City.

Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa, referred to ORT as an institution that helps individuals grow and become an asset to their community and country.  The new International Student Initiative is in keeping with the past initiatives that Nelson Mandela referred to.  He said, “One tool that will enable people to rise above their circumstances is education, particularly education that leads to the acquisition of useful and marketable skills.”   He also stated, “Technology education is the foundation stone on which we must build… ORT’s initiative could not therefore have come at a better time.”

Our first regional initiative is Africa. According to UNESCO, around two-thirds of the population in Africa are under 25-years-old, a vast majority lack higher education and job skills. Contributing to African youth high unemployment, is the dearth of colleges and technical schools needed to train young people in today’s competitive technological market place.

Irina Bokova, the Director General of UNESCO said, “The best answer to youth unemployment is to ensure that young people acquire the basic skills and relevant training they need to enter the world of work with confidence. Many youth, and women in particular, need to be offered alternative pathways to education, so that they gain the skills to earn a living, live in dignity and contribute to their communities and societies.”

Bramson ORT College is recruiting students from African countries beginning with Ghana. Ghana is the initial pilot country, because of the high youth population who do not have access to higher education in Ghana or abroad. Bramson ORT College will give African students affordable education packages to attend 2-year programs and receive an Associate Degree, the immediate education and skills needed for the job market, to go back home to work, start a business, teach or transfer to a 4-year college in the U.S. to further their education. The college will give a special discount to international students.

As an international education institution and non-governmental organization and not-for-profit, Bramson ORT College will also seek a consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations to highlight the importance of building new education initiatives and partnerships with Africa.

The application process will be streamlined for international students and a tuition discount will be offered to further incentivize students. Bramson ORT has also assigned a dedicated Admissions Advisor to help International students navigate the school application process and the visa application process. The admission officecan be contacted at 718 261-5800 extension 1010, orcontact ebronfman@bramsonort.edu.

The first thing you should do is figure out what field you want to work in and what part of that field you want to be part of or have a passion for. This will determine who is the right person to contact. Then find five or six companies (2 –big, 2- medium, 2- small) to call and ask for their help/advice on how you can get into the field and improve.

Try to reach the HR Department or hiring manager. Don’t ask for a job because the person may not wish to speak to you. Asking what you need to learn to pursue a job in that field will calm the person down and he/she will be more willing to speak with you. Doing this may also lead to an interview. If not, at least you know what areas to focus on. Take their advice to heart and try to learn at least one aspect of what they suggest. That way, when you call back, you can tell them that you thank them for their helpful advice and that you did learn the skills discussed that they are looking for in the area they advised on.  This may create a great impression on them.

HR and hiring managers deal with staff all day trying to get them to listen to what they want and need them to do, and you (someone who doesn’t even work for them) has gone out of their way and did as they asked. This makes a statement as to who you are as a person and worker and may lead to a possible interview.

For those of you who will be going to networking events, always have a business card handy (one with your information on it). When you take a business card from someone at the event, make sure to hand them yours. Networking is a great way to get your foot in the door!!
